| We operate Public Trips from
our landing stage at the rear of The Cunning Man, Burghfield Bridge,
Reading and from adjacent to the Queens Road Car Park in the centre
of Reading. |
Our
public trips are based around a Sunday afternoon trip from The Cunning
Man to Garston Lock and back. We pass through Burghfield Lock then
soon rejoin the river as it meanders through the Calcot water meadows.
We pass under the M4 and continue to Garston Lock. We turn here and
stop for a short break to have a look at the unique turf-sided lock
with its GWR broad-gauge rail framework and the WWII pill-boxes. We
then return through Burghfield Lock to The Cunning Man. This cruise
is extended at certain times to commence at Queens Road Car Park and
return there afterwards. |
| We also operate cruises around
Reading Town Centre from Queens Road Car Park. These cruises pass
through The Oracle to County Lock where we turn and return through
The Oracle and go down towards Blakes Lock then turn into the Abbey
Loop cruising past Chestnut Walk and the Abbey Ruins before returning
to Queens Road Car Park. These cruises may be extended through County
Lock to cruise past Waterloo Meadows and turn at Foudrey Brook. |
| Booking in advance is not normally
necessary but it is advisable to check for last minute changes. A
private charter will be take precedence over the public trips but
at least 2 weeks notice of any such changes will be given on this
web site. |
| We offer additional cruises in
conjunction with our boat movements to meet our Charter commitments.
We also operate trips at special events. |
