Public Trips
We operate Public Trips from our landing stage at the rear of The Cunning Man, Burghfield Bridge, Reading, RG30 3RB. Cruises from other locations are operated from time to time.
Garston LockOur public trips are based around a Sunday afternoon trip from The Cunning Man to Garston Lock and back. We pass through Burghfield Lock then soon rejoin the river as it meanders through the Calcot water meadows. We pass under the M4 and continue to Garston Lock. We turn here and stop for a short break to have a look at the unique turf-sided lock with its GWR broad-gauge rail framework and the WWII pill-boxes. We then return through Burghfield Lock to The Cunning Man.
Booking in advance is not normally necessary but it is advisable to check for last minute changes. A private charter will be take precedence over the public trips but at least 2 weeks notice of any such changes will be given on this web site.
We offer additional cruises in conjunction with our boat movements to meet our Charter commitments. We also operate trips at special events.
