The lead has been taken by The Waterways Trust www.thewaterwaystrust.co.uk which is now supporting several major projects for completion over the next 10 years. Voluntary effort of a practical nature in support of waterway restoration is lead by the Waterway Recovery Group www.wrg.org.uk which is part of the Inland Waterways Association www.waterways.org.uk the national campaign organisation for waterway protection and restoration.
The future enhancement of the Kennet & Avon Canal is linked to future restoration of the Cotswold Canals www.cotswoldcanals.com which now has the firm support of The Waterways Trust for its complete restoration to provide a link from the Sharpness Canal to the River Thames. The link between the Cotswold Canals/River Thames and the Kennet & Avon Canal is via restored North Wilts Canal and Wilts & Berks Canal.
